Marbles in the engine???
Marbles in the engine???
I know that someone posted about this a while ago. But I couldn't find the thread. I have more experience with the issue now than when I saw the original thread.
My problem is that when I have my foot on the go pedal and the engine gets up to between 3000 and 3500 rpm I hear a noise through the firewall right down near my feet on the drivers side that sounds like marbles hitting the firewall. I tried to solve this problem by putting premium in the truck. Sure enough, that got rid of the marbles sound. It switched to being a horrifying knock sound. (Horrifying for me at least since I don't want anything to happen that could kill my engine permanently). So right now I am running plus (to be in the middle of regular and premium) and it seems to have quieted down the marbles a little bit, but still not perfect.
Does anyone think that the Edge tuner I have on the way could have an effect on this problem? Or is there something more serious that I should have checked? I realize that these truck engines are not designed to be run out all the way through the RPM range, but sometimes I can't help it. And I don't want to feel like I'm sending the truck to death everytime my foot gets a little heavy. Please leave comments!
Thanks

when i did my ignition upgrade my detonation went away all together.. u may just have a weakening coil pack or the wires need replacing. id replace the wires and plugs first see if it goes away.
