wat is the difference between ford mustang cobra engine vs. a ford mustang GT engine

 

the intake is different instead of using the semi rectangular ports of most fuelie fords the cobra uses a round tube and i think the intake and exhaust valves are bigger than on the gt and i believe the cam is different

 

Well, I assume we are talking late model Mustangs. The Cobra uses 4 valves per cylinder, GT only has 2. The heads therefore are vastly different, and so are the intakes. The Cobra has an aluminum block, GT is cast iron. They both measure at 4.6 litres. Now, if we are talking 03-04 Cobras, they have a cast iron block with all forged internals and a direct displacement super charger.

 

All modular Cobras also have forged cranks unlike the GTs. Cobra engines are hand assembled by 2 man teams. GT engines are assembly-lined just like any other Ford engine. The power band and redline are also higher in the Cobras.

 

by cobra, do you mean the new shelby?

if it's 06 models, the GT has a 4.6L aluminum block, the shelby GT500 has the 5.4L iron block

if you mean the older 'cobra' model, i don't have a clue

 

guess i probably shouldva asked the intakes im referencing are the ones that fit cam on the 93 mustang cobra vs the ones that came 87-95 non cobra 5.0's sorry if i confused anyone...
