VCTcontroller what the F*#@?????

I have an '05 F150 xcab with 19k miles on it last thursday it started to run very rough at low rpm. I thought maybe bad fuel at first or a coil pack. I took it to the dealer 0730 Fri morning.. I think They thought it was a coil pack also, said it would be done by the afternoon. I called them back at 4PM to see what was up...??? Long story short they said it was the VCT (variable Cam Timing) control. And that a major portion of the engine would need to be removed to replace it. And all of this would take 2-3 WEEKS!!!!! WHAT THE F*#@?????? Has anyone ever heard of this problem, or for that matter ANY problem that takes 3 FREAKIN weeks to fix???? Any info on this would be greatly appriciated.
