'93 5.8L Driveability Problems

Hello:

New guy to this site, just found what i was looking for.......some help with getting my truck to run right.
Here is what has been going on.......I noticed that the engine was starting to "surge or buck" when accelerating.......then it got so bad that it has no power and now it won't even idle........took off the fuel filter and drained the fuel into a glass jar, the fuel on the front side of the filter was clean, but the backside of the filter fuel was looking muddy........after it sat overnight, I looked at it again and you could see the dirt at the bottom, after draining that I could blow right thru the filter, but replace it anyway........tried to run the engine again.......still runs like crap!! Took filter off again and got another muddy looking sample that settled out just like the other one. Took of the front fuel tank to inspect sock and see if there was dirt in the tank.......nothing in there but fuel and nothing visible on the sock........borrowed a fuel pressure guage and checked fuel pressure.....has a good 40+ lbs of pressure, but still won't run right......changed out cap, rotor, wires and plugs also before the fuel problems.......haven't scanned the computer as of yet but if anyone has any ideas I can use to figure this thing out I would be reallly appreciative........Thanks in advance, Mike

check timeing with light. if timeing mark moves around it could indicate a bad timing chain. do a compression test all should be around 150-180. thats a start let us know and good luck.
