Part on Back of Manifold Buzzing

Can someone tell me what this part is and if it is a dealer or parts store item. It has started an intermittant buzzing noise.

It's your IAC (idle air control vavle). Remove it and clean it or remove it and replace it. I would try cleaning it first

At my Store, napa they run about 60 bucks or so.

I dont know what it is, but I have never seen a 4.6 or 5.4 not need one of these replaced.

Everyone that asks for one, before they mention the vehicle i ask if its a ford truck and 8 out of 10 say yes

OK. I also bought a new Idle Air Control valve this weekend. It was $60 at Autozone. Looks like maybe I should have went to Pepboys.'

From my Chilton book: "The IAC valve adjusts the engine idle speed. The valve is controlled by a duty cycle from the PCM and allows air to bypass the throttle body plate in order to maintain proper idle speed."

When this thing messes up your engine doesn't idle very well or it may not at all. I noticed the new one didn't have a spring inside of it like the old one.

I'm not sure about the spring but it did get rid of all of my idle fluctuations and the noise it was making. The brand at Pep Boys was Borg Warner part #31019. It also said on the box NASCAR Officially Licensed. You gotta love that. Oh yea, I almost missed this,
"MADE IN USA"!!!
FABRICADO EN EE UU
FABRIQUE AUX ETATS-UNIS

It looks like they export also.
