When I turn over my 2002 F-150 my doors lock before the engine starts and it feels as though my battery is draining and all my gauges go crazy for about four to fivse seconds...any suggestions

Put a new battery in it. But before you do, make sure that the alternator is working. You can test it by cranking the truck, turning on the lights, shutting off the truck. If you headlights got dimmer when the engine shut off, then the alternator is working.

You can also tell if your alternator works by putting on every light and fan & a/c on high, with engine running, and disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. If it stalls, the alternator's done. I know this works, just changed my alternator yesterday.

P.S. I don't know if this is true in the states, but my local AC-Delco store offers a lifetime warranty on their alternators. So the $ 230 mine cost me may not be a waste if it craps out again !!!!
