4.6 threw the p0304 code!

My bros 4.6 threw this code. Ive read up that it is the last cylinder on the pass. side going bad. Should changing the coil and plug do it? Also ,here in Houston, its been rainin cats and dogs, would that have to do with anything, his truck is a 2002 with 70k on the clock. Thanks

By chance have you tried to reset the computer? If you got it really wet by accident, it could be just a bogus code. If could be reset by unplugging the battery for about 5 minutes, then reconnect it and drive around. It usually takes about 40 miles for the computer to relearn, then if a code is present it would return, you would then have to start spending money to resolve the problem.

Ye I cleared the code with a tuner, butit is running bad. It hesitates alot and when you give it more than 1/4 throttle, it pulls bad and hesitates to advance. The code says cylinder 4 misfire. Thanks

Easy things first. Pull the coil and check the boot for signs of arking. If it did buy a new boot. If no signs swap the coil with the #1 coil. Clear the codes and go out for a drive. Check the codes. If it is still coding for the #4 then it was not the coil. Check the condition of the plug. It could be a sticking/leaking injector. If the code went to #1 then it was the coil. Change the coil.

I had a similar code thrown.....except mine was for the #2 cylinder.....stealership pulled and replaced the spark plug....no problems after that. If you have a tuner though, don't let them do what they did to me and reflash your computer.....
