problems with 05 5.4L

About every other time I start the truck it will blow a little bit of black smoke out the exhuast. I figured this to be carbon build up, so on the way home from work today I decided to try and blow it out. when I floored it the truck accelerated to about 30-35 mph hesitated and felt like i was putting the brakes on when the accelerator was on the floor, shifted hard then started accelerating again, to repeat around 45-50 mph. 29k on the truck, is the smoke at start up normal? and is the weird acceleration carbon related?

btw. When I start the truck it starts up at very low rpms, not the normal slight revving that the engine normally does.

Last time I took to the dealer for the carbon thing, they told me there was nothing wrong. I just drove the truck and punched it and it didnt do the thing again, this makes me think it was carbon related and I blew it out yesterday, so it will run fine for a while and then be right back where it was yesterday. I think I need to get rid of this ford.

It's not a carbon issue, the black smoke means it's running too rich. There's a bad sensor somewhere could be an O2 sensor or a coolant temp sensor to name two. Take it in and have it checked for codes that's the first step in solving this problem.

clean out the TBI, check 02 sensors and MAF sensor, or if under warenty, get Ford to do it.

status right now is the dealership is checking with ford on monday to see if there is any reason for this happening. Then the truck is going in on wednesday for them to look at. if they replace the catalytic converter or o2 sensor again, like last time, I figure Im 2/3 of the way to lemon law or I will cut my losses and trade for a new one.

Im really not happy with my situation at the present time.

I don't blame you. Having these kind of problems on a 1 year old truck is unacceptable. If possible maybe try a different dealer if the current one doesn't resolve the issue.
