Seafoam

I did search this and couldnt find exactly what im looking for.

Ok my work carries seafoam now. Is there any potential harm from using this stuff? Ive searched it and can only find good reviews about it. The site says its oxygen sensor safe. So i know its not a miracle in a can but i figure i can get it discounted and why not see if it does improve how my engine runs. My truck runs great but ive just heard nothing but good things seafoam.

Anybody run into bad luck with it or had to replace something down the road suspected by using seafoam?

never had anything bad about it.i bought a case from a tool trade show through college. i use it in every 3 gas tanks and do it through the vac line every oil change (6k miles i use syn oil). the only bad i have heard about it is that if u put it in the crank case in a higher mileage vehical it will clean the gunk that is sealing ur internal seals that have broken apart or cracked and u will develope oil leaks.

If you don't have problems, why would you risk pouring this stuff into your motor? (Good or bad.)

Only person I can think of who had problems with Seafoam was Mattineer And some idiot who somehow killed a 2 stroke motor with it, even though I've 'foamed my boat motor (2 stroke) with no problems. I'd do it, it's worth the $5.44 the can costs. I've done several cars, some with double the miles of mine, all with great results.

I'm not fond of off-the-shelf additives, but I personally love this stuff. I had to experience it to believe it, though.

Well still being skeptical i decided to give it a try. I didnt get the whole clouds of smoke going down the whole street thing but i would hope i wouldnt since i only have 61000 miles on the truck. But i did see smoke like the can says. I dont like miracle potions and whatnot but i must say i am immpressed. This stuff did make a difference, my engine(and i thought it was running smooth) is much smoother idling. Honestly just as if it was brand freaking new. and there is noticable throttle response. huh.

My freind bought a can after he saw the change on my truck and put it in his 92 ramcharger and it has 160000 miles on it and there was so much more smoke but thats expected.

Weird. This is the only "miracle potion" i have actually seen a difference. But im not going to use this again unless the engine gets tired years and years down the road.
At least i know first hand that it can make a noticable difference and other people arent just bulls***ing.

IM NOT FONd about off the shelf additives either..but i love seafoam and the best thing i think is it cant hurt anything..i run it through every so often through my gas tank...and maybe once a year through the brake booster vacum line

not to change the subject any but does anyone use stp oil treatment???i used to use this stuff on my older cars before i stepped up and started buying newer cars then i stopped using it..

We have been using SeaFoam in customer cars where I work for years now. Just amazing the things that stuff will do. We dump a can in the gas tank with tune-ups as an injector cleaner. We have put it in the crankcase to quiet noisy lifters (which it does quickly). You get the biggest difference when you suck it in through a vacuum port though. Use the brake booster line like the others mentioned. Keep your thumb part way over the end of the hose while it sucks in the first 2/3 to 3/4 of the can. Then remove your thumb and let the rest of the SeaFoam go in quickly and stall the engine. Let it soak for about 15 minutes then start the vehicle up and go for a ride. Usually you smoke out the neighborhood and get some funny looks from others on the road but it will clean a lot of out the engine. SeaFoam is about the only additive we use anymore. We have never had any problems from using it. Great stuff in my opinion.
