Thanks again for your input Chester.
I will give it a try and let you all know how it turns out.
What a great bunch on this, I wish I knew about it sooner.
Just for reference, didn't I read somewhere(maybe it was here) that the spark plugs are really tricky to remove without adding further damage to the engine?
Thanks again.

Thanks Chester,

I will give it a try and let you know what happens.

I have been told that sparks for this are especially tricky and can cause further damage to the engine if they are not done right. I guess in its current state the point is mute.
Again I appreciate all the feedback I am receiving.

Thanks for the response Mordecai Jones,

I have a v6.
I am going to get it fix or traded for a working one.
I am lost without my truck. Driving this minivan is just not the same,
thanks again

Sorry for the double post Chester, I didn't think the first one went thru.

You are all a great bunch on here.

Please check the 8th digit of the VIN. It is either a 6,an L, a W or a 2. The 4.6L is a V8 engine. It's VIN will be either a 6 or a W. The 6 cylinder is a 4.2L engine and its VIN is a 2.

Thanks

JMC

In reading about the troubles with your truck, I can't help but suspect that the previous owner(s) might not have taken the best of care of it. You mentioned that your previous truck (purchased new) ran for many miles before giving out. I think that's the key -- you owned it from the time it was new and likely took care of it from day one.

However, I know an awful lot of people who simply don't care about the maintenance of their vehicles. They figure they're going to keep it for two, maybe three years tops, so who cares about keeping up the routine maintenance?

Well, now the answer is clear -- the poor sucker(s) who have to own the vehicle after they've traded it in!

You are right about most people. I always take care of mine as if I will get stuck with it from now on. My last truck, I kept for 3 years, someone got a well cared for Silverado. We had an olds 98 for 18 years. If I end up keeping one, I want it to be in as good a condition as possible. If I trade it, I take pride in wanting it to be just as good.

Here's what you do.

1) cancel the insurance. Its not being driven, so it doens't matter. My finance company said I couldn't have more than a 250 deductible and for 3 years until I paid it off I carried a thousand dollar deductible. They send me letters all the time whining about it, but never did anything about it.

2) Find a good junkyard motor. These are readily available, spring an extra couple bucks for a low mileage one. You should be able to get the motor for around $1000 and installation for about the same, hitting you for $2000 for the whole kit n kaboodle.

3) You may wanna consider an econo car in the meantime. I mean a beater, $1000 ccar that'll run for a year or so till you can get back up and running!

Thanks JMC,
The vin number is a 2, meaning it is 4.2L. Thanks there is still alot I don't know but want to learn. Sorry I have been so disgusted with this I haven't even lifted the hood on the thing in several months. My focus has been keeping the van on the road while I figure out something with this truck. I was born to drive a truck not a minivan. Oh I had a mustang and a tr7. Both were great but there is something about driving a Pick up. I guess it is because I can drive it just about anywhere under any conditions.
Thanks again.

Thanks DDwellwo,

Very true and believe it or not I(mom with three boys(I was a tomboy who loved helping Dad fix cars and stuff)) did all the oil changes and repairs that i could to my old F150 (sniff I miss that truck). I buy vehicles to last not to keep up with the Jones.

Have a great day!

Red face

Thank you Bluejay,

That is cool about the Olds 98. I had that 87 F150 for 12 years before it died. Of course they don't make vehicles like that anymore. You know what I mean.... Then= cars made of metal, Now=cars made out of recycled milk jugs.

I appreciate all input.

Very good suggestions 98Navi,

So they neve took any action against you (the insurance company I mean)

Of course with my luck I would drop the ins and a tornado would drop from the sky and demolish only my truck.

Thanks I am looking into some junk yards. Any suggestions on how not to get taken at the junkyard.

Thanks again.:o
