fuel injector problems.....

on my 98 f150, 4.6.
been having major power loss troubles. no pick up, power loss on the highway( usually while tryin to pass traffic). hate those dirty looks when i slow down to 50 in the left lane.

here is what ive done so far:
plugs, wires, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, hit the motor with a sledge hammer.

had it put on the computer at the ford dealer, they said my number 7 and 8 injectors are totally plugged.

how hard is the job of changing them, and what ones are my numbers 7 and 8?

help me Obi Wan....you are my only hope

The fuel rain on the driver side needs to be reomved. There are two 7mm bolts holding it to the intake manifild. Remove the bolts. Depending on how dirty your engine is you may want to clean around the injectors. This will keep debris out of the hole when you remove the injectors. Unplut all four injectors. Pull up on the front of the rail till it pulls off the first injector. Keep pulling moving back along the rail till it is off the injectors. You may end up pulling some of the injectors out of the holes. Don't worry about thet you cleaned the area around the holes. The two injectors closest to the fire wall are #7 and #8. Number 8 being the closest to the firewall. Pull any injectors that stayed attached to the rail out of the rail and lube poth O rings, I use a little engine oil on my fingers. As a preventative measure inspect the O rings on the #5 & 6 injectors for tears and nicks and replace them as needed. Slip all 4 injectors into their respective holes in the intake manifold and push down to seat them. Lube pays off here. This is also why you cleaned to area around the injector. Position the fuel rail over the injectors. You may have to move the injectors around to get them to line up with the bosses in the rail. Once they are positioned correctly push down on the rail to seat them. You will feel them slide into place. Install the bolts to hold rail in place and plug in the connectors.

Note: You may find it easier to move the Power Steering Resevoir Mounting Bracket out of the way. 3 8mm bolts. One on the thermostat housing and 2 on the resevoir.
