Cool Idling Problem

Good Afternoon Folks. Gotta be someone out there that can help me with this particular problem. We own a 1998/F-150 LXT/Triton P/U truck. It has been fabulous and well taken car of. We replaced the battery at a place and it cause the after market alarm/auto remote start to fail. In other words totally screw up the truck. We took it to Ziebart to have them cut the alarm and auto restart. Now the truck starts with the key. Now the problem is that when you start the truck it does not want to idle and dies. Only way to get it to run is foot on the gas and risking hitting someone in front of you. Does anyone know how to solve this problem without having to go through an entire checkbook? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks folks!!

I seem to recall a PATS lockout ocurrs when power is lost.
Do a search using 'PATS reset'.
This wil give you an idea of what conditions you may have to contend with.

It is a good idea to use a temp battery supply to the cigar lighter to keep the system alive while changing a battery.
This also prevents the computer from losing all it's learned data that takes about 300 miles of drive cycles to rebuild.
