P0405 Help!
P0405 Help!
Can anyone suggest what to do about this code? EGR sensor a circuit low. Do I need to clean the throttle body and mafs? Has anyone had this code? Thanks for all the input ya'll. 2002 screw 4.6l. K&N FIPK. Dark Shadow Grey
I typed P0405 into the search feature. Here is what came up:

Read it you'll learn alot. It seems 80%+ of the time a P0405 is fixed by replacing the DPFE sensor.
Good Luck

Notice you didn't get to many replies for code 405.
The discription is low sensor A circuit input but here is the question.
On most years 2000 TO 2003 trucks this code/sensor discription seems to be 'na' because the EGR system dosen't use a sensor on the EGR valve normally, unless you have some different factory build. Always a possibility.
Generally the DPFE does all the flow testing as long as the system does not detect a failure with the EVR that gates vacuum to open the EGR valve. A failure here would prevent the DPFE from measuring any flow (a code 401).
Question is..is the 405 code correct?
I would clear it and allow the code to be set again and see if it is the same code.
If so, take a look at your EGR valve (not the DPFE) to see if it has a sensor attached with a wire cable, (to back up the use of code 405) in the PCM program.
You should be able to see your EGR valve by standing at the drivers side fender and looking at the firewall area near the top. The EGR is a round disk shaped device with a hard vacuum line and rubber connector attached to the center going the the EVR control closer to you on the firewall.
Sometimes fluke codes are generated and needs to be revisited to be sure.
I have done research on this that provoked the above thoughts of interest.
These are just my thoughts on the matter so anything is possible until all is known.
I have the same truck as you have.
