Novist -Asking for little help or direction please!
No question is a dumb question, right? I have a 2001 Harley F150, raised it (RCD 7"), and added only a few mods...airraid/throttle spacer/exhaust -Flowmaster/rear gearing don't know size...not much more...a friend who I trust... is putting a 75/100 EFI mainline shot of nitrous on my truck and I want to do all neccessary maintence before we actually do it because i know my truck needs it...and I dont understand half the **** he tells me...Can someone help me out a little???
I was told my 1 and 2 O2 sensors should be changed and I don't even know which ones are they are? any pics? They dont give me the time of day to explain and it sucks because I want to learn...I understand they are before and after the cat but how many are there? 2 or 4 or?? which ones should i replace? what should I pay for them? What do each one of them do? I would appreciate some advise or even a website to help me learn more...any siggestions on other things that I shoudl check or do before added the nitrous?
Thanks!
Cody
Nitrous on a lifted truck. Sounds like trouble to me!
O2 sensors, there are 4. two close to the engine (upstream) and two after the cats (downstream). The first two seem to be the most crtical to the proper running of the truck. They monitor the amount of O2 (oxygen) in the exhaust gasses. then allow the computer to lean or richen the fuel mixture as needed.
I bought mine new for $50 each. Most people recommend bosch sensors.
I used a 7/8 wrench to remove mine, although there is a 'special' socket available (that i found to be useless, except as a paper weight).
I have a picture of one in my gallery in the 'misc repair' collection. look in my signature for the link.
