Cool engine safe mode, check engine light, loss of p/l and door ajar light

im in the military doing a crazy road trip for orders. i drove from seattle to pensacola fl in a '05 f150 and once i get down here, my truck acts up. it went into safe mode twice and then check engine light came on. then the power door locks wouldnt work, and the door ajar light locked in. so i take it into the local dealer. and they tell me that i have had 7 or 8 "low voltage" codes in the bank for quite some time, and automatically blame the aftermarket stereo. the only problem is, is that this all happened while the motor was running. now in my peanut sized brain if its experiencing a low voltage condition while running, its something to do with the charging systembut throw in the p/l failure and door ajar light well that is confounding. but they istalled tsb 051404, reflashed the memory and called it good. 24hrs later and back into safe mode and i still have to drive to detroit. now as far as the specific codes go, they didnt include them in the maintenance invoice. is there anyone else out there having similiar problems or that can give me some insight where the local dealer failed?

If it's been raining, I'd suspect a leaking windshield (onto the GEM module).

Perhaps time to get your own code reader. Stop by a WalMart and see if they have an Innova 3030 for about $65. Your truck has a new CAN-style interface that the older code readers don't support which precludes taking it to most auto parts stores that offer free code reading. Ask first about the CAN scanner if you decide to try there.

Once you get the codes, come on back and either poke around or ask.

I agree that if you get low voltage, it could be a charging problem, but think about this.... If you had a battery with an intermittent short between cells (it's happened to me) that would load your alternator to max output and still may not be enough. I'd check the battery voltage with a digital voltmeter, engine off for at least an hour, then run the truck and recheck running voltage. Check it also 1/2 hour after shutdown. If you see anything under 12.8 volts, change the battery. If you still have a problem, go back to a better dealer.
