I have a 1998 Ford Expedition 5.4L 4x4 that just had the radiator and hoses replaced. This seems like a really strange setup with a lower radiator hose that looks like an octopus.

How can I tell if the system is working properly?

I do not see pressure build up in the upper radiator hose when it is hot.

You're overanalyzing something simple. If the guage reads normal, then its fine. Yes, the hose has a quad split I believe it is, but thats just the way they did it.
