Want More Power from 4.6 V8
Want More Power from 4.6 V8
Hey guys,
Just wondering out of all the added HP products/modifications out there, which ones have actually provided the best results??
I have a '00 scab 4x4, and want a bit more juice out of the engine without losing too much on the old mpg rating.
truck has about 75k Miles on it, 3.55 gearing, and is completely stock (powertrain wise)
Thanks for any help guys!
Tanner

seems most guys on here swear by the troyer Xcal2 tuner. the troyer guys offer tunes specifially calibrated for your vehicle, although I am not a troyer owner (yet) it is on my list of mods somtime within the next 6 months or so... my current mods are a flowmaster si/do original 40 series, summit shorty headers and a k&n intake. from my current mods, the one that has netted me the most gain is the headers hands down, plus they made my truck sound a helluva lot meaner, which i loooove! the header install went kind of rough though, as I went in there not knowing what it was going to entail, I can tell you that story later though, so there are some mods you can make to your truck for under a grand that will put some punch into your blue oval. e mail me for the header story if you want, it'll give you some insight I didnt have. e mail is mattwacht06@yahoo.com
troyer is pretty expensive on pricing unless ur buddy buddy with him. but alot of the stuff u can find else where like summit or through a another vendor for cheaper... but id doa electric fan swap. under drive pulleys were showing to not gain any power to the wheels... on GM and ford cars and trucks... and UD pulleys will cause adverse effected with cooling and burning the alternator. but i would get a Volant or an Outlaw intake... due to they are the only true cold air intakes.. and they arent to expensive. get some stainless headers. and dual exhuast or a 3" catback. get some NGK irridium plugs. and a Xcal-2 tune an u will notice a good gain in power. i definatly did but i got many many other mods as well. by fat the best gain i noticed was the ported intake manifold and headers.
