my dad said he read a TSB today on modified trucks that the wire harness is rubbing on the AC pulley and causing a short there. and that the audio deck can short out and cause the error codes u are seeing. didnt u modify ur wiring harness? have u tried taking the tune off the PCM and see if it still does it, is the converter locking up on u? hows the tranny temp?

HI!... That would help if I had A/C.......... Everything else you suggested has already been looked at. They are not the problems.

HI!... PCM is new and 3 different programs have been used via my X-CAL 2. It's not that either. I'm leaning towards a electrical problem with the gauge cluster which is also new.

HI!... Well I finally figured out what the problem was. It's those stupid GMS coil packs I installed. Switched back to the stock coils tonight and the truck runs great. Called MIKE TROYER tonight and discussed what the truck was doing and his 1ST suggestion was to go back to the stock coil packs. I guess I'm running into the same thing that the guys that run the MSD STACKER 8 do. The coils are just too strong for the coil drivers in the PCM or something on those lines. Mike told me MSD has a capacitor that needs to be installed in the wire harness going to the PCM to solve the problem. I'm going to order that on MONDAY.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but I'll bet it has something to do with your GMS coil packs.

Glad you got it figured out.

Wow!! glad your out there Neal, I'm switching over to Grantinelly's this winter when I'm off - Great info here!! So they make a resistor that governs the output? have to check into that to avoid that problem. Sounds like you did all the leg work already. A great help!!!
Thanx again.

Trying to steer clear of all that and going w/the 2 core intercooler instead of the upgaded 3 core. I can get away from a tune as well as use my stock injectors and supposibly 65% gains in HP ,lol (yet to be seen and very skeptical) I doubt that, it would mean about 350hp, that would be cool tho!! - procharger will refund me if I'm not pleased, got that in writing. I'll eventually get a tune(not a big dif for the non-PI 5/4), but want to see if this pans out first as advertised without the extra mods.

Neal,

Would you mind posting more info on that capacitor when you get it? I have a similar problem (although my truck doesnt quite die, it surges down to 300rpms and back up, only at idle) and I've tried everything I can think of to fix this problem but so far no dice. I have MSD coil packs and I'm willing to try the capacitor and see if that fixes it. Thanks.
