Temporary groan at 2k RPM at startup
Temporary groan at 2k RPM at startup
(2000 4.6L XLT 5-speed)
Two weeks ago I had my heater core replaced and when I got the truck back I had a whine under the dash between 3000-3500 rpm. I took it back last week for them to find the culprit and to do a complete coolant flush.
Since the coolant flush, I have had this "groan" at startup that occurs right at 2000 RPM and last for maybe 10-15 seconds. After that, it's gone until the next morning when the motor is cold.
I did a search and saw a bunch of threads about the power steering pump and the groan they make in really cold temps but I'm not sure that's my problem since it only gets down into the 70s or 80s here right now.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
bone

Does it sound like a foghorn?? Might be your IAC, mine was doing that until I replaced the IAC. Search "foghorn" and you'll see it is pretty common...Good luck.
