No oil getting to head?

I have a 97 F150 XLT 4.6 windsor. The passenger side valvetrain is making noise like crazy. I took it in and was told oil is not getting to the head and it was dry? Has anyone encountered such a problem? Any help would be great, I am wondering what I should do it only has 220,000 km on it.

From: Georgia on my mind...
I've had 4.6s in passenger cars that were neglected to where the oil passages to the timing chain tensioners got stopped up with sludge, starving the tensioners of oil. They'd bleed down and allow the timing chains to flop around against the guides, beating the hell out of them and making an awful racket on top of that. The only reason I could think of for oil not getting to the cylinder head is neglect or lack of maintenance.

or if the head gasket was replaced recently, then it may be defective or installed incorrect
