'89 F150 Help! POP then no start or electricity

Yep that is right I got in my '89 F150 today at lunch and as I turn the key and the starter starts to spin I hear a pop from under the hood and then wham all is dead, no lights, not even a dull click from the battery. It is as if all juice has been terminated. What is up? This is a new one on me. No problems before and battery is not bad, so.... HELP! Please. Thanks.

I actually had this happen to me once before on my 97, it was a wire(power) that came loose and grounded out on the body, knocked the whole system down. I was fortunate enough to not lose my alternator or battery over it, but it was bascially a full discharge of the system. I found the wire easily enough my the welding looking marks it had made, repaired it, recharged the battery and all was ready to go again. you may also want to check the megafuses if that truck has them to see if they popped. It's very likely you have a big power wire that grounded out somewhere it shouldn't have.
