1999 5.4 sounds like a diesel
Hey guys, I have a 1999 F-150 5.4, it sounds like a diesel all of the sudden. I took off the drive belt to eliminate any pullt issues, I also cheked for exhaust leaks but none. anyone have any ideas? Motor, Tranny? Thaks

That's usually the engine detonating.
If you're stock, I would *guess* bad plugs, bad gas, or a hosed EGR system. Since it started all of a sudden, maybe the EGR system is the place to start looking. Good luck with it!
