Building a 4.6 ????

Alright I've been toying with this idea for the last 2 months and I wanna see if anyone else has done this. I have a 98 F-150 NASCAR Edition that I would like to build a motor for. I want it to be a 4.6 so I don't have to deal with mounting issues and stuff like that. I've already found a bunch of websites that sell everything from cams and heads for the 4.6 to crate motors so parts shouldn't be a issue. I just wanna see if anyone has any pointers or advice for me before I start on this project

Like you've said, there are plenty of places for parts out there. There are tons of parts out there for the Stang 4.6 that will work for your build up. Just dont skimp on anything-use quality parts and know what your doing and you can build up a pretty stout lil 4.6.

Any specific areas your looking for pointers/advice about?

Oh yeah, take lots of pics and post lots of info about it on here. Ive been wanting to do a 4.6 build for awhile now. Lol, I have the whole engine planned out pretty much, just dont have the funds

Just remember, any Mustang 4.6 performance parts are probably going to add top end performance. You might want to look for a tow/rv cam for your truck.

As long as you are building a motor start with the 5.4. You can wire it up to use your existing harness. That is what I did. Why spend the money on a 4.6 when a 5.4 , mod for mod, will out perform the 4.6. You are going to need a tune to control the build engine so get it tuned for a built 5.4. Just make sure that you get a 1999 metal intake manifold for the 5.4.
