WOW!! Look what I found in my intake!!

Okay, a little history and questions. I have a late 98 5.4 with COP's(MD-07/98). I was manually cleaning upper and lower intakes recently and found a handful of broken chewed up piston pieces in the lower intake. In August of 2000 the dealership seviced my F150 4x4 SC and didn't replace the oil in my motor. Of course I didn't get far before it was compromized. It was replaced within the same month by them. The tag on the block says "reman aug. 2000". My questions are - Do I have a true 98 motor? Is it possible that I have the 99 PI heads? It seems to have produce good power low and high ends...Did I just get back what I lost in the first place? How could I tell?

Thanx

Sounds like they didn't bother to clean your lower intake. They just swapped it onto the remanufactured engine. The reman date is the date they rebuilt the motor. Most likely it is a direct year replacement for your truck and not a later year built engine. You can determine this by identifying the block and head casting numbers. This may help you determine what you really have. You can read this article: http://www.babcox.com/editorial/ar/eb40228.htm.

Oops! This is for a 4.6L engine. Here is the correct link for your application:

Great!! Thanx for the info.. I assume finding piston/pistons pieces in the intake, they had to replace the heads as well, that is what brought my curiosity.

Thanx 4 the link 2...
