350 flywheel horsepower 5.4

The 5.4 in my Expedition is getting on up there in miles, and I'm thinking of a rebuild of it and the 4R100. I know what to do in the case of the trans, but I'm new to the modular performance stuff. Could you get 350hp (flywheel) out of a 9.0:1 compression 5.4? I was thinking of using ported PI heads standard size valves and some mild cams. How well does the Expedition ECU respond to engine mods? I want something that will run on 87 octane most of the time. If I have to use octane booster to tow, I can live w/ that.

On the other hand, how hard would it be to install a 03-up Lincoln 4v motor? It should bolt up to the trans, and I could get mounts and wiring harness from the boneyard.

I've got a 98 NonPI 5.4 motor that is intercooled and blown, probably 350 or more FWHP. Yeah, its possible, no, most likely not on cheap gas

HI!... I've got a 400FWH.P+ N/A 5.4 that's only 8.42:1 compression. 350FWH.P in N/A trim is easy to do. I suggest MIKE TROYER for the tuning, he's done mine for 7 years. But you go with who ever you feel comfortable with.

Here's a very large thread of some of the parts and problems I have had with my built 5.4.

Sure is. Like Neal said, try giving Mike Troyer a call. Ive talked to him about getting some power out of my 4.6 on 87 octane. He figured up right under 300 flywheel HP with no major mods.

That 87 really hold you back....Especially with P&P'd heads.
