it clicks when it tries to start, we took a socket and moved the motor, my husband is working on it. I am just going by memory, he is stuck at the napa. It crunk right up when we released the compression. it's like it's not getting something to the cables. or something. We can rebuild a vw anytime, but this truck goes to the dealer when there is a problem, but if we can fix it it would be great. Do you think there might be corrosion>?

if it makes repeated clicks then normally its because there isn't enough voltage. maybe the alt isn't charging and the new battery went dead. try jump starting it.

if its one click then the starter relay, battery cable or connections may be bad. the relay is a common thing to go out. you can jumper it out to test it.
short the 2 big terminals together with a screw driver and it should crank.

this it the relay, its behind a plastic cover on the firewall by the battery.

you are awsome to help thanks!

We tried to jump it it didn't do anything. He had someone tow him to the shop we use and by the grace of God, the guy that works on our truck was there, he told him what you just said! it's the starter. which is what I told him 4 hours ago. lol

Thanks so much for your help.

of course it has to be the expensive part not the cheap relay.

Oh well at least it will be fixed.
