Is this "hesitation"?
Hey all,
Been lurking here forever, and never really felt the need to post about anything, until today. When I started my '01 5.4L F-150 this afternoon, I noticed the truck was vibrating. A slow oscillation of sorts, that got worse when I put the truck in gear. I opened the hood, and the engine was shaking like a leaf. I was a quart low on oil, so I added a quart and started it back up. When I blipped the throttle, there was a quick sucking sound from the intake/stutter, then it kicked up like it should. After doing that a couple times, the CEL came on.
I will probably end up taking this to a garage, but what do y'all speculate it could be?
Thanks!
adam

I would start by running to somewhere like AutoZone or Advanced Auto and get the codes read. Then post back here with the code (ignore what the guys at the store say...tell em youll think about it or something), and we'll let ya know what you need to do.
My neighbor had a code reader/chip tuner, code PO307: Cylinder #7 misfire detected. He suggested replacing the coil pack. Sounds right to me. What do you think?

Change the number 7 COP and while you are in there change the plug also. Bad COP may have fouled the plug. Don't for get the dialectric grease inside of the COP boot when you reassemble. If you are doing this yourself. Remove the air cleaner, Power steering filler bracket, and right side fuel rail (just unhook and raise it up). This will give you access to the COP's.

Changed the No.7 COP and spark plug. There was moisture and what looked like sand all up in the boot and all over the spark plug. Replaced the plug too. It would have been easier to remove the fuel rail, but I didn't. In neutral, it still flinches a bit before responding to a throttle stab, but it drives normal. I have a friend with a garage thats going to do me a tune-up for cost of parts. Thanks for the suggestions and advice. This place rocks.
