Underdrive Pulleys

I've been looking into performance mods and have been checking out underdrive pulleys and what they can do. Are they really worth the money though? I have a 97 5.4. Thanks for the replies.

I did underdrive pulleys and electric fans at the same time. I believe they helped in performance.

Bought them from Troyer Performance. You can see his posts in the Chips & Turners forum.

1. Park your truck on a straight road or runway and shut the engine off.
2. Remove the engine's belt.
3. Crank the engine and stomp the gas. (Feel the added power?)
4. Shut off the engine, and install a new belt. (great excuse to do this anyway)
5. Decide if e-fans and underdrive pulleys would be for you. (I think you'll be disappointed)

if you remove your belt, it should give you a greater power increase than just putting pulleys...that down low is on the for real

I am seriously thinking of getting pulleys for my truck. Have heard more yays than nays. Do a search for more info on them.

Just do like I said. See if there's any difference. I think you'll be disappointed

if u get pulleys dont put one on the alternator... or at idle youll have massive voltage drop. the crank and water pump is fine ur vehicle just might run a bit hot when idling...

After my T.P. e-fans & pulleys, my 4x4 felt like it had shed 1,000 lbs. of weight. Throttle response is greatly improved as well, not to mention the increased MPG's. Troyer's pulleys just replace crank and water pump pulleys. If you don't want to spend the money, just do pulleys and swap the factory fan for something lighter...the stocker is a damn PIG.
