Unhappy Low fuel hesitation

I have a 04 Screw 5.4. Here is my problem...as soon as my low fuel light comes on or shortly before, when I take off after a stop the truck hesitates a few times or jerks. It almost feels like I am running out of gas or the truck is not getting fuel. It will do it for a few seconds and then run fine until I stop and try to take off again. It will continuously do it until I fill up which is right away since the problem is obviously annoying. My thought was the low fuel light was coming on late and maybe I am almost out of gas, but this is not the case. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have changed the fuel filter but that did not make a difference.

Condensation (debatable) or sediment at the bottom of the tank (more likely)

Check for a clogged pickup screen on the fuel pump.

Actually its not that sarcastic, todays fuel pumps are usually inside the gas tanks and the fuel cools them not to mention that the fuel pump can lose prime.

Try not running it that low. The fuel helps cool the pump and more than likely you are losing prime do to low fuel. Keep running it that low and it will eventually burn up the fuel pump and leave you stranded. I have ran mine uncomfortably low a few times and never had the low fuel light illuminate. It must light up when the tank gets REAL low.

Yup. Some cars(I want to say GM's Camaro/FB/etc line) will burn up real quick without the fuel to cool it.

OK, so I'm a spelling geek

OK, so I was looking at the At Home Mechanic link referenced here, and was wondering if anyone else noticed the following: "if your car was sold in the Untied States"

Which of the states are untied? Maybe Hawaii and Alaska, since they aren't connected to the rest?

OK, in all seriousness though, +1 for not running it so low. It does make the fuel pump run hotter and does concentrate any sediment which may be in your tank, making your pump work extra hard.

I run my gas tank to below "E" 3 times a week. It doesn't hurt it.

What trash? It always draws from the bottom of the tank anyway.
