Single E fan

I was wondering if anyone is running a single e fan. I bought a single 16" fan, but in the process of looking for a controller for it, people are telling me that it won't be enough for my 97 with a 4.6L. Thanks for any input.

lets see the cobra the mach 1 the crown vic the mustang GT all use a single 16" fan.. like i have on my truck and with the texas heat it holds up fine ive got a relay and a Hayden fan controll i got from autoparts store for about 18 bucks its adjustable and i have it set to kick on at 200F but the most reliable method is a coolant temp sender that opens and closes at a specified temp they are little more expensive but they wont fail you.

What auto parts store did you get the controller? Also, do you have it so the fan comes on when the a/c is turned on, and how hard is it to wire the a/c part of it in? Thanks for all your help!!!

I looked at doing an electric fan setup for mine, ended up not doing it and just replacing my fan clutch, more because of cost and ease of installation than anything else. HOWEVER, here is what people told me. This is all just what I was told, I have no personal experience.

One reason some don't like a single fan is because if it fails there's no backup.

Another is that you can't cover the whole radiator with a 16" fan--- you can supposedly get hot spots in your radiator. The cars that use a 16" radiator are smaller. (or so I am told)

Lastly, not all 16" fans are the same-- you want to make sure the CFM is high enough for your use.

JDM supply a single fan setup complete with block sensor and all wiring, relays etc, which includes a link for ac.
Fan is complete with rad cowling and is easy to fit.

mine takes up half the radiator and hase a shrowd its off a town car i beleive. it performs fine.. and if ford uses single fans and has for ages... i guess they trust em. but newer model engines have fail safes and or limited operation where if it gets to a certain temp it shuts off half the cylnders and just pumps air through them to cool the engine down.
