My F-150 is a toy, not a daily driver, so I never even pay attention to gas mileage. I know it's going to suck no matter what I do, so I just hit the accelerator, listen to my Magnaflow growl, and enjoy the ride!

My best advice for improving the gas mileage on your F-150 is to do what I did -- get a Ranger daily driver!

I have a 99 F-250LD with the 5.4 and I calculated about 18mpg. This is average for commuting. Maybe 19 0r 20 on long hauls but, when I pull a 5000lb trailer it drops off to about 11mpg! Yes it is a gas hog, but is all in the driving. The engine is stock and I have made no mods. Im thinking maybe a Flowmaster muffler or K&N air filter to Improve this? don't quite know yet. Any suggestions? please!

Let's face everybody if you have a Ford V8 you have bad gas mileage. If I cared about MPG I would have bought a Honda Civic.
