Rear seal advice

I have an '02' F250 7.3 diesel with a bad seal leak. Is replacing this seal something that can be replaced by a weekend "DIY" with a little auto mechanic skills. Or is this something that I would be better off taking to some one that KNOWS what they are doing.

your welcome.

post it in the superduty forum. they will have more experience with the power stroke.

for the most part the rear main seal requires removing the trans, clutch and flywheel. Ive never done it on a power stroke but have on many other engines and its pretty straight forward.

horton...

the seal replacement is not a job you want to tackle..
the pan must come off the engine to acomplish this and that requires a complete engine removal from the truck..

are you sure its the seal and not the pan itself?
superduty pans are famous for rusting out..

but either and or the engine must be removed to do this task...

good luck
