More problems with 5.4 SCrew
More problems with 5.4 SCrew
Alrighty then. My father had to borrow my truck last week because his 5.4l blew up. My engine oil light came on after he had it two hours so he stopped at a dealership (after night in hotel) where he was told that the oild change I had just performed must have jogged some sludge loose and cause too much oil pressure. Another oild change and the problem disappeared (problem was identified by a flatlined gage and an illuminated oil light).
He is on his way back now and just outside of Pittsburgh he had the OD light start to flash and it developed a severe miss to the point where he couldn't even get it to a town with the small snowmobile trailer he was towing( problem started at the same time that it downshifted going up a hill). A wrecker service took him to a PEP Boys store in Greensville where the idiots didn't have time to help him (different story all together). Anyway, I don't have any codes to report because they refused to pull them today, but other threads here make me question the VSS at least partially. Any thoughts? He is holed-up another night because of this truck and I'm more than a little disappointed in my 2001 SCrew with only 117,000 miles on its 5.4l engine.

If anyone is curious, I had a wire harness break loose from its holder and land ont he exhaust manifold where it shorted-out, blew a fuse, and messed-up the oxygen sensor. They just disconnected the Oxygen sensor because there was no way I was paying them $300 to change it (I'm assuming that its a $60 part here in town).
Just thought I'd throw that solution/cause out there.
