Built 4.6

hey...im back again...i was just wondering if anybody knew anyone who had a built 4.6L motor. I am thinkin of building mine and i was wondering how much power i could get to the wheels, just building the motor. Ive heard of advanced timing, headers, exhaust, intake, high compression pistons, port polish, cams, valve springs, roller rocker heads, and retainers. Does anybody know how much HP and torque would be possible to pull out of one of the motors. I am also aware they make a bore kit that bores it to a 5.0. All info is appreciated

Honestly, if you are serious about building a 4.6L Ford Motor, there is a plethora of information in this forum as well as thousands of others on the internet. I don't know if anyone is going to take the time out to explain this question again for the 5 millionth time.

Use google and use the search feature on the forum.

Also note that we share the 4.6L with the Mustang crowd although there are some differences.

Check out modulardepot.com and some other Stang sites. Mucho info.

There are TONS of parts out there, mainly with the Stangs in mind, but a lot of it will work for the 4.6's in our trucks.
I believe the bottom end, block, and heads are pretty much the same, with the big difference being the intake manifold and other stuff (someone correct me if Im wrong )
Seanhylanmotorsports.com and foxlakeperformance.com have almost all you need, I know there are better (and definatley cheaper) places to get stuff than from Sean Hylan though, just a place to give you some ideas and what not.

i would seriously look in to a 5.4 used and start there. its kinda like the chevy guys that want to build up the 5.3 when the 5.7 has more power to start with. the 5.4 has a longer stroke so boring it would give u some but a 5.4 will prob will be close still... if u can find one thats what i would start with ... u could always sell ur 4.6 for the extra money also. but if u die hard with ur 4.6 i would start by (depending how much u want to go) superchip tuner, exhaust, volant intake, pullies, efans, gears (depending on ur tire size) and so on. if ur looking for a budget with more money, super charge the beast get some better pistons, exhaust, a tuner, tranny up grade and u should be making better horse. its all in what u want to spend just keep in mind that a 5.4 with a super charger will be making close to ur horse with the mods.
