High mileage post for 4.6 and 5.4

My 97 F1 has 200,500 just wanted to see what mileage others are getting with a 4.6 or 5.4 and what it has taken to get there.

My 98 had 185K before the head gasket started leaking. Still ran fine though, when I pulled the engine. Can't wait till I get the new engine back in. Change the fluids regularily and you'll be okay. Also, with that many miles, I wouldn't recommend racing anybody - the motor is probably a little loose now - may not bode well with sustained high revs. Reminds me of a story, not about an engine, but a transmission. Years ago one of my friends borrowed his dads 57 chevy truck to help move into a new place. I went along for the ride to help him. Right after we unloaded the truck, my buddy put the truck in reverse (it was a manual transmission) started revving the motor and popped the clutch - expecting to bark the tires in the driveway. The old transmission couldn't take the torque and the case literally broke along with every stinkin gear and shaft inside that transmission. I fully expected his dad to kill him on the spot. SOB is still alive.

My 98 5.4 has 110,254. Its a 4x4 extenda cab. I've got a AEM cold air intake, Grannatelli (sp?) MAF, Gibson exhaust. I've changed the belt at 70k just for the heck of it. Got the original belt in my truck box as a backup. My check engine light just came on. Ran the codes. Oxy. sensor. Other than that I havent had one problem with the truck. Pulled a big boat out of some bad launch ramps with ease. Been thinking of getting a new truck, dont know why.

2001 Supercrew 5.4 4x4

I have a 2001 Supercrew 5.4 4x4 with 127,000 miles. It still funs fine. havent had any problems with the truck. I do have a blown fuse that i need to replace, but i suspect, that may be common after this many miles.

1998 5.4L 4x4 extended cab, K&N intake, bbk throtle body, venom performance module, flowmaster exhaust, 4:10 gears and eaton possi. It still runs about one truck length in front of my brothers 2005 5.4L 4x4.

155k on my 1998 4.6 Litre. Only problems have been the heater core at around 153k, wheel bearings and crank shaft seal at 145k. Still got almost 22 mpg on my last road trip.
