A cable is instantaneous. It hooks directly to the throttle body. The lag time associated with drive by wire throttles is because it takes the computer a short ammount of time to prepare the engine to accelerate, (spark timing, injector calibration etc.), and open the throttle body. (Correct me if I'm wrong experts)

If you think your truck has a problem, take it to the dealership and tell them to fix it. ESPECIALLY if it's under warranty. If they want to charge an arm and a leg, then you can look into fixing it yourself. It sounds like the same problem that bluejay had.

I babied my truck for 3k miles, now its a whole new truck and gets better gas mileage. And the gauges are a plus. I have talk to you in the past. I bought my truck to 2 different dealers and got the same answer. They checked for updates but there there were none, they said I had the latest update. I didnt want a tuner but this made such a huge difference. By the way I talk to people that had the reflash and they said its nothing compared to the tuner. I would have rather put the money toward wheels but it is what it is.

Not really true. The cable will provide instantaneous movement to the throttle itself but the engine control is based on the mass air flow not the throttle position. At that point there is still a delay between maf reading and control of the fuel and spark - but we're not talking much time here. I think what you guys mostly complain about is because of the way the throttle is controlled - its not that it can't control it fast enough its that it is ramping it open slower than you want to deliver smoother increase in torque.

OOPS. for some reason I read 2002??? Sorry bout that

Then yes, a re-flash might help.

I like your explanation better than mine

I think you're right about the smooth opening throttle body. Most f-150 owners want a smooth ride, It's just those special few.......

My understanding of the problem is this. The computer is set to have the delay so as when you are going down a bumpy road and the foot is moving up and down thus moving the pedal you still have a smooth throttle. A supposed comfort feature. I could be wrong someone may have blown some smoke up my butt, however it seems somewhat logical. I got the edge and have almost no delay now.

My 05 has the same delay as Scott's truck.I called my local Ford stealership and they agreed that it should not be delayed.Mine is scheduled for service on it next Thursday.
