**service engine soon light on**

My truck started running really sluggish 2 nights ago & I originally hoped it was bad gas. I have filled up with premium & put some octane booster in, as well as gas treatment (STP). I thought it might clear it up, but no luck. And now my "service engine soon" light is on. It is running like total sh-t, now.

Any ideas?

WRITE DOWN the codes (not the descriptions).

Come back here and either SEARCH for them or ask about them.

Do not buy anything from the idiots at AutoZone based on their suggestions.

Sounds like you have a misfire. Pretty typical failure.

Also, post your year, engine, and transmission because there are recognizable patterns.

Thanks, SHO.

That is what I have been told, about AutoZone.

I hope you are right & it is a fouled plug or wire. I thought that could be it, too.

It is a 2000 F-150, 4.6L, 4 spd AOD, SWB, 4 x 2.

Im curious and you are the first one that I am suggesting to try this. If you have one of the later model years maybe your odometer might have some DTC codes. I can do this on my 1999 F150. If this works for you, post the DTC codes here...

and here is a link to an extended list of DTC codes...
