Piston slap and brand of oil: relationship?
I noticed someone posted on here about a month ago that he noticed piston slap after changing to Mobil 1 oil.
I have a 2000 F150 5.4L that I just bought in December. Even though it was real cold for the first month or so, I didn't notice anything like piston slap. After my first 3,000 miles I did my first oil change and used Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-30. I'm not 100% sure this isn't a coincidence, but since then I have noticed what seems to be piston slap.
Could piston slap and oil be related?
On the same subject, has anyone noticed any sort of noises whatsoever relating to a specific brand or grade of oil? And if any of this has any merit, is there a brand or grade of oil that lessens any of these noises?
I'm coming up on my 2nd oil change in a couple hundred miles and although I am a fan of Mobil 1, I'm thinking of trying something new to see if it makes a difference. Any suggestions? I'm thinking about maybe staying with Mobil 1 but also adding Lucas.

I have noticed that some oils do seem to allow more noise (on cool mornings)than others on my 02. I have also noticed that most oils are ok if the temp stays above roughly 65 degrees.
With that said, here are the oils that seem noisy ON MY TRUCK:
Royal purple (5w-30),
Valvoline (5w-30),
penzoil (5w-30),
castrol (5w-30 syn and blend).
The oils that I have found that allow seemingly less noise are:
Mobile1 (syn and blend),
Motorcraft (5w-20),
Havoline (5w-30)
Today, I am running a motorcraft 5w-20 and I am surprised at how well it seems to be performing. I am using a 3k oil change interval.
These observations are MY experiences over the nearly 90k miles that i have on my truck. I currently average 16 mpg.
With that said, here are the oils that seem noisy ON MY TRUCK:

There has been talk about some oil filters letting the oil drain back thru the pump and back into the pan over night. Then in the morning you get a dry start and lifter clatter. Fram was mentioned as bad for it. I've been using Mobile1 15W50 and Motorcraft filters for 3 years now. No piston slap or valve clatter but I am starting to get timing chain rattle cause that freaking plastic chain tensioner is going again.
