Unhappy White smoke comeing out of exhast pipe

Well yesterday it was nice out so i thought it would be a good day to wash all the salt and whatever eles the winter had put all over my truck, after washing the inside and outside of the truck i decided to wash the engine, i used a very LIGHT spray and made sure to cover and protect any electrical parts before washing. So after about 4hours of drying time with the hood open i decided to start it up when i did i noticed their was somthing wrong right away.
It was shaking in a way it never did before so i went around the truck to look at the exhast pipe and their was hugh amounts of white smoking coming out so i shut it off right away, I'm guessing its a head gasket gone?

it only has 64,000Kilometers on it and its a 5.4L

Oh I also want to point out that when i washed the engine it had been sitting over night for about 13hours or so..

What should I do?

Scott.

First, we need to know what we're analyzing. Second, I'd put money on the fact that you got a plug wet and have a misfire. Run it until the code comes up, and go from there.

Sounds like you got water inside the Spark plug holes. Its very common when someone washes there engine. Thats why you always run the truck right away after washing to burn off any water that got inside or run the engine while washing it.

Your truck is probably fine, but you got to run the hell out of that truck and get it hot to burn the water out of the spark plugs or its going to continue to shake and misfire

i put up a post for what sounds to me as the same problem white smoke at idle but when you get on it it will turn blueish. i dont have a code so i,am going to do plugs cap rotor and wires last. i did the plugs did not make a difference. i have a strong gas vapor about the whole truck when its running. well if you get to a garage before me let me now how you made out.i will have to be towed to a garage because it is that bad.

Yeah, if it was running properly before you washed it, I'd have to agree with the majority in here.... the water got down in and around the plugs and coils, and it was mis-firing. Let it dry out and it should have smoothed back out.

$2100??? For what??? The ECU?? they're friggin' crazy....

And this is why I believe washing your engine, no matter how careful you are, is a bad idea. Whether or not your problems are related to this, I dunno. But still.

And $2100 sounds stiff for a repair. I'd find another dealer.
