for an 89 F150 with the 302 and AOD 2WD.

the KOEO codes i'm getting:

code 81, 82.
air management circuits 1 and 2 are malfunctioning. what do i fix for this?

continuous memory code 14
profile ignition sensor circuit malfunctioning.

since i'm not able to keep the truck running i am not able to check for the KOER codes.

Fix code 14 first.
The PIP is inside the distributor.
It connects to the TFI on the outside thru 3 flat terminals.
Get a new one and install carefully after you see how the old one comes out.
Clear the codes and retest if the engine runs after the PIP is replaced.
If the air system codes come back then look over the pump hoses, the control valves attached for problems.
The pump hardware is on the lower right front of the engine and is belt driven.
There is more to this air system but get the other work fixed first.

Post

update:
i ran to the parts store and bought a new PIP sensor. if i'm not mistaken this could also be called an HEP sensor....?

anyway, i started taking apart the distributor and lo and behold; i have no way of pressing out the gear or the sleeve on the rod. i was able to pop out the pins holding them in, though.

so i said forget it and ran to the u-pull it yards. pulled a distributor out of a 91 302 EFI f150 and hoped for the best.

truck wouldn't start. wouldn't even fire, the starter would just crank and crank until the battery drained

i cleared the previous error codes. scanner said only the continuous memory codes can be cleared (which would have been code 14 ) and then i scanned it again.

KOEO codes now:

21 ECT out of self test range
24 ACT sensor out of self test range
81 same code as in the first post
82 same code as in the first post

keep in mind i could NOT get the engine started nor warmed up so i'm guessin that the 21 and 24 can be ignored.

great. so what now?
