I bought my truck in nov of 05 its a 05 xlt. I recently had it side buy side with a guys truck I work with, it to is a 05 but its a lariat. We were comparing his stock chrome package grille with my 06 HD grill and I noticed that his truck has a hood pad and my truck does not. Dont all the trucks have this pad or was it reserved for the lariat and the KR.

 

Based on other threads I've read, the insulation pad is *not* included on the XL or XLT models. It is, however, standard on the Lariat, FX4, and KR.

Some folks with the XL and XLT have added the insulation pad, though. To the best of my knowledge, all F-150 hoods are identical (someone please correct me if I'm wrong about this), so all you should need is the pad and the plastic push pins from your Ford dealer.
