Oil light

A friend of mine has a F150 (02) 4X4. The problem is when starting the truck in the cold the oil light comes on and stays on until the truck is up to normal operating temp then the light goes off. It has been doing this for sometime now, I think a couple years now. The truck has plenty of oil and has not affected anything else, sounds like an annoyance more than anything. Has anyone else had this problem? I was think maybe it was the oil sending unit going out, but for that long??

Any ideas?

More than likely the oil pressure sending unit has gone bad. They are known for failing. It is fairly easy to replace and not very expensive. First, be sure that the vehicle has good oil pressure.
