whistling noise....
whistling noise....
Two days ago my truck started making a whistling noise, I'm not sure where it is coming from.. either the engine, tires, or transmission.. at first I thought it was something with the tires because it only whistled when the tires were spinning... then today I realized that wasnt it because it stopped whistling every time I shifted gears. My truck is a 5 speed manual 1997 4x4 with 112,000 miles on it..
I noticed that when I'm going 40mph and above the whistling is constant but stops either when the clutch is engaged or I'm in neutral, but below 40mph the whistling is constant... I have no idea what this could be.. I thought maybe I was low on transmission fluid but could that be the problem? or is it something to do with my clutch? Any help or advice would be appreciated... thank you

fixed it.... the whistling noise wasnt coming from the engine, it came from the rear driveshaft and my friends and I guessed it must of been a U joint so we replaced the three U joints on the rear driveshaft and the whistling has gone away..
I would have guessed the PCV causing the whistle. I recently replaced mine and I think I bumped it or didn't get it all the way in. It whistled upon deceleration. Sounded freaky but was an easy (free) fix.
