2000 F150 4.2 Problems...
2000 F150 4.2 Hesitation/Misfire
I have been surfing this forum for about a month now searching for an answer to my problem. I have tried everything that I could find that related to this problem...
2000 F150 XLT 4.2L
No power while in gear up to about 2500 RPM
Hesitation and vibration while in gear
Misfire (a month ago it had codes, misfire cyl3,4 and random cyl misfire)
Replaced:
Coil Pack
Spark Plugs
Wires
EGR
Fuel Filter
*note* the spark plugs were red in color, once replaced the car ran wonderful... the next morning, car runs for ****.
I checked the fuel pressure and got a reading of 30psi, the fuel that came out of the filter looked fine.
Most of the problems are magnified while taking off from a light, they are less noticeable after take off. For example, sometimes I take off from a light and have the pedal all the way to the floor and I am going at 10 miles an hour, slightly raising in speed as the rpm gauge slowly climbs, when it arrives at about 2500, the rpm gauge starts flying.
the truck only appears to misfire every once in a while, it is usually really loud.
I have been working at this problem for months, and everytime I replace a part, the truck runs great until i start it the next morning... there seems to be no real condition that causes this, I know it is cold right now, but when I changed the plugs it was 18º and the car ran great for a day, next morning it was 30 something, and it ran for crap. now its 44, runs horrible...
Does anyone have an idea of what’s going on?
