Question K&N FIPK vs 77 - why the difference?

OK, maybe someone can explain this to me... Straight from K&N's website:

FIPK (K&N 57) - 15.47 HP @ 3829 RPM
K&N 77 - 9.53 HP @ 3725 RPM

Why the 6HP drop off from using a plastic vs. a polished metal tube? They look identical otherwise

The polished metal tube absorbs heat! Warmer air goes into the intake
