I'm not even going to answer you. The answer to your question is already in this thread. READ!!!!!!!!

It is a 4.6L Windsor block.
I have a line on a good set of PI heads but they are from a Romeo engine.
Will these bolt up OK?
I read somewhere that there is a difference with the coolant line but I am not sure what is needed to make it work, if I can.
Yes the Romeo heads will bolt to the Windsor block just fine. I don't know if the NPI Windsor and Romeo heads shared the same valve covers or not. I know PI they do not. I know that a romeo NPI valve cover and romeo PI valve cover are interchangeable, Easiest way for you to tell is to count the number of bolt holes. Romeo heads use 11 bolt valve covers and windsor use 14 bolt valve covers. I know for sure that that applies to PI head designs. I think NPI is the same way but not 100% certain. And yes you will have use the PI collant hard line and water pump nipple. The nipple is easy enough to get out. Most of the time a couple a good straight whacks will get it out. some guys have to cut them out but not too often. Some parts guys at the dealers also look don't have a clue when you tell them you want the PI water pump nipple. just make sure you are in front of them when you are talking to them and don't let them tell you that they can't get it, they'll probably have to order it but they can get it and its in the computer

I've read most of this, and now I am confused. I've got a 99 4.6 Romeo. From what I've read, it's a SOHC 2V, and might have PI heads. What is the easiest way to tell if it has the PI heads?

you don't. The 4.6L didn't go to PI till 01 in the trucks.

Whoops, looks like I read the Windsor part on that webpage, and not the Romeo.

I used to have a 98 f150 4x2 4.6L obviously NPI and that truck was such a slug..........I hated that truck. The npi 4.6's didn't cut it in the trucks IMO. Part of that could of been is that the truck before it was a 1994 F150 with a 351.......I still miss that truck..........it was fun lol

So the PI ones do cut it? You wouldnt even be able to tell if you were driving a NON PI or a PI. An 11 HP difference in a 4200 lbs truck isnt really what you would call noticable.

Thats wierd that you noticed that much of a difference between your 5.8 and 4.6. My buddy has a 93 with a 5.8 and when we both had stock trucks I would beat him in the 1/4 mile. I thought those 5.8's were only rated around 220 hp too? What are the torque #'s like compared to the 4.6's though.

I don't know if the PI 4.6 in the trucks make that much of a difference. I'd never have another 4.6L in a truck. The 4.6 is a decent car engine but I think it lacks in the trucks. My current truck has a 5.4 in it. The 94 we had with the 5.8L sure felt alot more powerful..........never took it to the track or anything. Truely I think that truck was a factory freak......it was pretty quick and had enough power to pull down a house. I have driven a few other 5.8L trucks and none them felt anything like the one we had.

I know factory freaks do exist. A buddy of mine had a thunderbird identical to mine both with 4.6L's and both with 3.27 track lock rears. The ford listed quarter mile time for those was 15.8 the best i could get out of mine was a 15.7 and the best he ever pulled was a 15.0 and they were both stock.

Thats cool. I guess Ive never driven or really heard of anything that was noticably faster from the factory than identical models.

Id like to have a 5.4 in my next truck, but they are next to impossible to find around here in the configuration I want (reg cab, short box, 2wd). Ill probably end up with another 4.6. I drove one the other day and it felt quite a bit snappier than my truck, and they are identical minus weight (mines a SCab) and tire size (I dont see how that could have made THAT much difference though). Hehe, maybe its a 'factory freak'

IM kind of curious about power and track specs now though. Does anyone know where I could find that stuff for different years and configurations?
