Doesn't matter at this point.

We do need to know WHICH ENGINE is in question, though.

Try looking in the maintenance guides at AutoZone's site. They have some coverage of Ford trucks, maybe even yours.

Fosgate3,

I was wondering how you resolved this!

Believe it or not, i ran into the same mess today! Was changing the tensioner with a new one for suspected whine in the engine. I did, but the whine stayed. So...took it off, and TRIED to put the old one back on! It wouldnt go! The spring would not "POP" onto the motor side and the bolt was only going in about 7/8 of the way! I couldnt figure it out......and still cant, but i know that just trying to put the bolt in by itself wont even work. It goes in smooth and easy up til 3/4 the way, then gets realllly hard.

Does anyone have a clue what the hell this is?? After 4 hrs of working on it, im ready to blow!
