Is it possible to replace 4.6 with 5.4 os other hi performance

I currently have a 2001 screw with a 4.6 that I want to make a beast. It would be nice to have alot more power when towing and mudding. Any help anyone could give would be great.

There are several things to help you.

Powerdyne, Vortech, whipple, kenne bell, procharger, and the list goes on

You can get a little higher rev out of the 4.6 with its shorter stroke, although the tranny will be your weakest link.

How much do you want to spend? He who has the most money goes the fastest!

Welcome to the forums-
The engine swap is a bid deal, and not worth it.
As suggested, a supercharger is a do-able. For more low end grunt try a positive displacement type like Whipple, Eaton or Allen for towing and mudding. LOL

What year "new" 5.4 are you talking about? 2004+? I don't think anybody has attempted that swap yet because of the throttle by wire, and as for swapping the 4.6 for a 5.4, I think it'd cost a whole lot more than $3,000 to do that, and be a whole lot more work.

It'd be cheaper to put in a super charger than all the work it would take to install a new 3V 5.4L engine. Plus you would probably get more power this way than just putting in a N/A 5.4L engine. It will sound better anyway

PI heads were made for 5.4s, not the 4.6, I don't think that this combo would work without some serious custom machinery. Somebody whip out the Dremmel
