4:10 gears, please help
4:10 gears, please help
hey guys, i have the 3:55 gears now in my truck and im am thinking about switching them to 4:10, how will my truck act with these on the freeway, will it be quicker or slower. How will it act from a complete stop, if i punch it will it burn out more, will it be quicker off the line? Basically what im asking is if my truck will be faster than now?
i have the 5.4L, K&N cold air intake, Summit Racing Headers, Superchips programer.... thanks.
Another question, what do you guys think about a pulley kit? Is it worth it? What other mods can i do to make my truck faster?.... thanks....

Your off the line quickness will be faster, but your top speed will be a little slower. Your highway MPG will decrease due to running a higher RPM, but your city MPG should increase since you won't have to use as much throttle to get up to speed.
As for additional mods, the underdrive pulleys and E-fans from Troyerperformance will help a lot. Hope this helps.

yep ^ that about covers it....your RPMS will be much higher on the higway and you'll top out at a lower top speed.(not that you should hit it in these trucks). You'll get better acceleration from a stop...
It will be quicker, not faster. I changed from 355 to 410 and you get better off the line power, However, you lose highway speed when compared by rpm's......... So, at 2000 rpm's with 355 I went 70 mph - with 410 I go 60 mph. If you do a lot of highway driving you may not like it. This will also require adjustment of your speedo/ odometer. LOL
I just put 4.10s in the front of mine with a locker, still waiting for the 4.10s for the rear (should be here this week) to go with the locker. Gears make more performance at all speeds. Even top speed will be higher in these trucks. Why would it not? The top speed theoretically will be lower but your truck is not going to redline in fourth either way, but it will go faster with the 4.10s. And of course this is if you have the top speed limiter removed.

It is unbelievable the feeling you get in the seat.
