I am looking at buying a 2001 F150. It has the 4.6 V8. It is a fourwheel drive and extra cab. It has 102k miles on it. The dealer is asking about $10,500 for it. Any thoughts on this? I will be towing a small hybrid camper, dry weight of 2600 pounds, with the truck. I know the 4.6 is not a power house but the tow rating should be plenty for this small camper (16 feet).

Should I be concerned about the miles or is it probably going to be solid for another 50k?

Depending on how the truck was maintained, it could very well go another 100k miles. I tow a trailer a little heavier than that with no problems, and I live in Colorado. Good luck!!

my fiance had a 99 4.6 with 130k on it when we sold it to a friend,, he's still running the hell out of that one.

wouldn't have gotten rid of it if it wasn't a reg cab!

As long as there are service records that show that it was properly maintained...i'd say go for it!
